Hello all,
Gotta open with this story. SFC Brian Gorby participated in the Operation Catch Fish
III Tournament hosted by Joe Mercurio this past April. SFC
Gorby caught his mangar in Lost Lake a couple weeks ago with a crankbait. The fish was 4'4" long
and took about 2 hours to reel in. To sweeten the story, SFC Gorby caught him on one of the poles given away at the fishing tournament.
Thanks for sharing your story and pics with us SFC Gorby.

If you did not get an OCF III T-shirt in Iraq, now is your chance.
Hooked Nation, has the shirts we gave away for sale on their website.
The club has been out on the water, though the heat has been
oppressive and the fishing slow. Jackson managed to catch this nice sized carp on Father's Day.
Jeremy was unique, in being the first member to land a Mesopotamian Soft-shelled turtle. Both were released unharmed back into the Duck Lake.

Nice turtle Jeremy, be careful, they are endangered!
MSgt Karin Dates sent in this photo of a first fish. It was SrA Ann McKenzie’s first time EVER fishing, and she caught
an asp in Al Faw Lake using corn for bait. She says it was at least 10lbs, but her commander, an experienced fisherman,
believes that it is at least 25lbs. She named it Andy. Ann has caught the fishing bug, and she’s very excited about her next
fishing trip. Hope her luck is as good next time.

SrA Whitt sent in this photo of a Wels Cat he caught. He'd have gotten better pics,
but the fish escaped right after this shot was snapped. Thanks for sharing it Brian.

Rick Pope of
Temple Fork Outfitters has once more been extremely generous to our little club with a donation of fly rods, spinning rods and casting rods.
I used TFOs Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Rod around the waters of Iraq and couldn't be more pleased. Thanks Rick - you and TFO have been amazing.
For all those on Camp Victory, the club is open to all comers, active duty and
civilian. They meet every Sunday about 0700-0730 near the Al Faw palace. Facing the palace, the rendezvous point is about
50 yards to the right. Don't know how to fish, don't worry, we've got folks to teach you. Don't have a rod - again, we are here
to help.

club or fishing anywhere in Iraq, just drop us a line by clicking here to e-mail us: Baghdad Anglers Club e-mail.
you can also use that address to send in pictures of the whoppers you've caught and get them posted in our gallery.

Some are standards - some are patterns created by anglers in Iraq.
That is the latest from Baghdad. For the guys on the ground,
