Howdy all,
One thing for sure and certain in this world, time marches on. It surely seems to move slower when you are deployed far from home. However, thanks to the continuing generosity of the clubs supporters, our troops in Baghdad can kill a little time on the water. Maj Baker passed on some great shots of guys with the 364th CA Bde, who've been fishing the lakes around the Al Faw Palace.

Not to leave out the AF, TSgt Spring Custer sent in this shot of CMSgt Bryan Rainey. He caught this asp on 8 Lake, behind AF House. Andrea Lyn Van Benschoten and her husband sent in a care package of gear - thank you so much!!! They run a discussion group The Bluegill Journal Brandon Collins sent in a couple belated pics from the Catch Fish tourney in March... They are pics of Brandon's 2nd place fish (4lb 10oz Asp) and Jay Kayrouz's 5th place fish (2lb 10oz Asp) Jay green sent in these shots of a common carp he landed. Alex Sambro continues to have good luck on the water. He tells us that catfish are dominating the scene lately. Here are a couple he caught in Lost Lake and Slayer Lake. CPT Greg Canady wrote in with his tale of fishing in a combat zone: Well folks that is the latest from the front lines. For the guys on the ground, stay safe keep the pictures and stories coming.

Here is another picture out of FOB Warhorse. It is an asp I caught yesterday on an 8 weight fly rod using a smaller streamer. Was tired of using dough bait for carp so I tied a fly on to give it a shot. A few casts later and it was Fish On! This fish reminded me of catching Speckled Trout down on the Gulf Coast of Texas. I cannot wait to see what else I can pull out of the ditch here on FOB Warhorse.
