Happy New Year!!!

Hello again to all and welcome to any new folks.  I am a bit behind schedule, but I have some updates for all of you.  Chris and Jim are keeping the school going strong. I hear from them every couple of weeks.  A great bunch of guys at www.ozarkanglers.com sent the school a huge batch of supplies, include a bunch of fly boxes, leader material, flies and fly tying material.  It was a great gift from those folks down in the Ozarks.
Jim has discovered some of the really big fish that I found over  at Camp Slayer.  He's hooked a few but has yet to bring one to hand.  He says a couple of them acted like they didn't know they were hooked.  It can be nerve wracking for sure.  Chris says it has been a little chilly in the mornings, but he's not complaining considering it will be 120+ soon enough. With that cold weather they have not been fishing a lot, but have been at the tying bench.  They will get me some pictures as soon as they can.  Chris declares himself a computer-dunce, but I think they'll get it all sorted out.  Chris did have this to say about the recent hanging of Saddam:

"They found a short rope and a tall tree for a former dictator.   Some of the locals were happy but others are restless. We can't please them all.

Jim had this to say:

Things here are going good. Chris and I went fishing the other day. He caught a couple.
Nothing beats seeing someone hook into a fish while a small arms rounds hit the water near you.
The bent rod with the mist created by the round's impact will forever be etched in my memories. The fishing for me was slow--in other words I got skunked.
I've since gone fishing again at Camp Slayer. I was much more successful than in previous trips. This is a picture of the first carp I caught on a fly! Not a huge one, but fishing is fishing!
I've been trying to teach a gentleman in my office to fly fish, but our schedules don't allow much time to get on the water together.
The weather's warming up and the fishing's starting to pick up. Thank you again for starting this wonderful school--your legacy lives on.

     Tight lines!
     Jim

Jim's first Iraqi Carp (actually it is a type of barbel, but in the same family)

Look at the size of that Asp!!! That is a beauty.

On a personal note, I have a new assignment and will be heading to sea in a couple of weeks. I will do my best to keep up with this site and the school, but duty comes first and am I not going to have the access that I do when I am at home. However, I will find a way to keep all of you informed on the happening with the school.

Don't forget to sign the guest book, if you have not. It is up and running and folks are starting to add their comments.

That is it for this update, check in again and see how we are doing.
